Spikes handrail options
I have a AR15 carbine rifle with a 14.5" barrel and 1.5" pinned and welded flash supressor. I want a Spikes handrail on it. What are my options for installing a Spikes BAR or SAR handrail besides cutting off and reinstalling my suppressor?
And when a gunsmith cuts off the flash suppressor is it considered a SBR rifle for the short time the repair is done?
Only option to get a BAR or SAR on it is to cut the flash hider off. This will require a new muzzle device being pinned on. While it is being worked on, just don't attach it to the lower until it is finished. The gunsmith can do this all day long without worry.
The far cheaper option would be to get a drop in quad rail (i.e. DD EZ Rail) or the Magpul MOE Handguard that you can add rail sections to.
Thanks for responding, that is not good news. I would rather buy a new Spikes upper since I would spend $200 anyways just on the handguard before the gunsmithing and new muzzle device.
Do you happen to have any 5.56 uppers with a 16 inch barrel and 10" BAR in stock? Or would a 9" BAR cover the ST micro gas block completely?
