bushmaster on the chopping block?

This might be the reason nobody at the bushmaster shot show booth had any solid acr news...
Guns and Ammo reported that Bushmaster was closing its plant in Maine and consolidating operations. However, your Facebook link says the brand is being dropped altogether.
Holy Smokes!
We might be seeing some really good deals on BM's!
That's funny, because the new ACR models have hit the distributors and are in stock.
THe ACR ORC, Special Purpose, patrol, basic folder as well as the ATACS , basics and enhanced models are all in stock.
I checked inventories today and got quite a shock. Lots of ACR options at lower prices.
Plenty of AR options also.
I'm surprised that anyone would say that Bushmaster would be discontinued. It's basically just a brand now but still they lots of new things planned for this year.
If you are going to discontinue the brand, why put out a 2011 catalog and announce new products?

Well just another chime in here from me, I have seen large company Mfg. shut down rather quickly before (Ask me how I know) and I'm not saying who's wrong or right here...but the statement reads "will be discontinuing the Bushmaster brand" Now if that happens and Remington continues not sell to us civilians better get your ACR while you can.

all this could have already been lined up for month prior to this announcement.
Will see if they will make some kind of official statement and hopefully this will translate into next cheap rifles

I spoke to a lady in sales/customer service the other day and was asking her about the new models and she told me they probably wouldn't be out for a few more months.

ACR Basic and folding stock are already on the way.

I'd have waited for a special purpose model otherwise.
3rd party hearsay post on Facebook. I would have to see an actual release from TFG.
As a rule when you buy "brands", you can consolidate, out source, cut expenses, but you don't usually drop the brand, that's what you paid for.

The part in
red is exactly right and I know for experience.
Tile manufacturer I worked for. Had been bought and sold bought and sold probably 5 or 6 times. Last time it was sold was to an Italian firm. They bought the inventory along with about 8 patterns, DC and plant in Kentucky, and the Name. The rest remained in the former owners hands, which was basically property and machinery. They went though the buildings with a bulldozer and ripped out everything for scrap metal. A lot of the presses were from late 70's manufacture, and friction presses were from late 30's to late 40's. All solid steel.
But point being they bought the name to stamp on their imported product form over seas, Mainly Turkey a little from Spain.
Funny thing is when the former owners, which were essentially a holding company, got done getting the old plant ready for sale it was Jan 2008.

Yeah right when the bag was opened with the cat in it regarding housing. It still sits unused for sale just no buyers for a near 600,000 square foot building.
You can call Bushy and they will tell you they are moving to Remington s manufacturing facility in NY - there is no reason to drop the brand name.
SR Enterprises We would like to make a correction to a previous post.
Freedom Group will not be discontinuing the Bushmaster brand. In fact, an FGI employee told us today the guns will stay the same with some new ones on the horizon.
We apologize for any confusion.
Here is the press release about moving the factory

Good news, I've always liked Bushy.
