Should I get an ACR?
I was at my local gun store and they had an ACR and a SCAR on display. I picked up both and started messing around with the. I fell in love with the ACR. After coming home and doing some reading on it I decided it was what I was looking for in a rifle. To me personally I think it is perfect when it comes to ergonomics and adaptability. It feels like I'm picking up my AR-15 but much better. The only thing that is stopping me is right now I don't have the money and I read up on that recall. Also from what my local gun store told me ACR's have production problems and the parts aren't to a point were you can swap them between another ACR. I don't know how true the last one is but still it hasn't played much into my decision.
With the recall is now a good time to purchase one or should I wait a few months before I decide to?
I like mine.
I got a basic, then put an enhanced stock on it.
I haven't sent it back for the recall yet though.
what parts cant you swap from one to another?
i've had no problems with mine whatsoever, they are going down in price quickly, i'm debating on getting a 2nd one now
The price has come down quite a bit already. You can pick up enhanced ones for 1850 on Cheaper Then Dirt. They have lowered the MSRP's in the new 2011 catalog and introduced several new configurations. I would wait another month or two until these new models start hitting distributors. I would guess you will get one for around 1700 by then. I wouldn't worry about the recall stuff, it's a simple firing pin/spring change even if you had to buy one of the older models. Mine has been super so far and I would buy another without question.

+1
This is my advice as well. The MSRP being pushed down should push the market price down.
i went with scar lighter, better balanced.

I played with both of them side by side I like the ACR but that's just me.
I love the ergo's on the ACR and a con to the SCAR is I find the safety is stickier than the ACR.
I think I'm going to wait a few more months for the prices to come down further.

+1.... The ACR with A-TACS camo looks pretty sweet....
ETA: Oh, and to answer OP's question, YES, you should get an ACR..

I have one in layaway I'll have it out next week. ACR's have dropped 50.00 since I've ordered mine. I shot the Scar and ACR at a shoot and was hooked .
I have one, and if they keep coming out with more options I own at least one more..

I have determined that.
This is what has sold me on getting one:
"The original Magpul Masada design represents an amalgamation of several recent rifle designs, incorporating what is considered by its designers to be the best features of each in a single, lightweight, modular rifle platform.[6] Design features from the Armalite AR-18 (short-stroke gas system), the FN SCAR (upper receiver, charging handle location), the Heckler & Koch G36/XM8 (liberal use of polymer components), the M16/AR-15 (trigger pack), and the M16 (barrel, fire control group) are clearly prevalent. The rifle also includes several features developed by Magpul, such as a quick-change barrel/trunnion system, adjustable gas regulator, non-reciprocating charging handle, and storage compartments located in the stock and grip.[7] Just prior to the deal with Bushmaster, Magpul made additional changes to their design—the most obvious of these is the relocation of the ambidextrous operating handle to a forward position (somewhat similar to the Heckler & Koch G3 and Heckler & Koch MP5 series of weapons)" Quoted from wikipedia. Also all of those happen to be some of my most favorite weapons. So why own all of those when I can own one that has all the best features of them?

The thought of selling my Magpul/Noveske MPL rifle and getting a 2nd ACR (in ATACS when it's released)
has SERIOUSLY crossed my mind. I REALLY REALLY like my coyote ACR.... I like shooting it suppressed
even better. I'm still amazed at how clean the damn thing is after shooting suppressed... I love it.

The thought of selling my Bushmaster AR-15 has already crossed my mind.
I think the ACR is one to get. I'm going to give it a few more months and see if some improvements in weight and barrel profile are in the works. Hoping that they lose the M4 barrel and shave a little weight. No biggie if they don't though. Price is coming down to more realistic levels. One thing that attracts me is the plans for 6.8. Love that round.

CTD now shows Enhanced for $1866, but didn't see if there is a standard cost for shipping or not. Got mine through Executive Gun Runners for $1955 shipped to Ohio FFL & they were very good through the deal with communication & expediting delivery.
Prices likely will not moderate much more –– simply "supply & demand" economics. Purchases are picking back up again in post recall, so what we have now is likely it until there is another slowdown or market saturation.
