It seems like everyone likes the non railed handguard for the ACR. Why is this?

I haven't handled either version so I was just wondering. In the ACR pic thread there are barely any railed handguards.

overall i like the looks of the railed forend, but the polimer one does give you more real estate to grab on, not to mention covers up the ugly gas block

more modularity than the railed handguard, looks better IMO

Once I get mine I'll be running it with the Basic Stock and Enhanced (Railed) Hand Guard. That's assuming I don't get a Remington Hand Guard...

I prefer the modularity of the picatinny hand guard. If I want to move or add something to my weapon I don't want to sit there and bullshit with little rail pieces. The Remington is the same concept but better executed.

the enhanced rail essentially has the length of a carbine rail once the front sight is folded down. I need a longer rail to for the support hand. That extra couple inches on the handguard makes a big difference.

I personally like the black hand guards for this simple reason, they make the barrel look smaller at 1st glance. The enhanced is a nice hand guard but I personally do not like how short it is. just my 2 cents

When I get my ACR, it will be with the standard foreend. I don't need the rails, and I like the feel of the standard handguards better.

I bought an enhanced and found the railed handguard too bulky for my personal tastes. The basic (MOE) handguard just feels better. Also It covers more of the gas block, which gets HOT when you run the rifle hard. Like said above, I think it just plain looks better.

Weight difference? MOE looks much better.

Standard looks better and feels better. Plus it's kinda what a lot of people liked when the rifle debuted as the Masada.
