Is the Carpenter 158 steel for the M15 bolts a recent change?
It was my understanding Armalite used 8620 for the M15 bolt material as well....per website and previous conversations.

The info from the website is incorrect. The information for the 158 Carpenter steel for the M-15 bolt was something I wasn't aware of so I assume this is nothing new we started doing. Sometimes information doesn't always flow down to us from engineering.

I was told that their bolts were 8620 as well. Very good to to see this new info.

Thanks for the response.
I know it may seem pretty silly to some,but the devil is in the details..... and the Carpenter 158 spec'd bolt steel is important.
Certainly dictates what I buy when looking for a bolt.
Does Armalite HPT/MPI the bolts?
We don't do any High Pressure or Mag Particle testing on the bolt. We have them Shot Peened on the surface finish which is done at high speed to relieve the tensile stresses in the material after machining. We have done Mag Particle testing in the Engineering Department but not on production runs.
