 Did you guys start using loctite on your bbl nuts?

No we don't Loctite the barrel nuts. Sometimes they are hard to take off as through time they sieze up a bit. We use a cheater bar to loosen them.

I found a small amount of an unidentifiable alien "red" compound underneath the barrel nut of my upper. It was placed where the locating pin is, though small, it was enough to force me to spend an hour grinding off the surface of the barrel nut under the delta ring until I could finally peel the thread off.

A small amount of Loctite is used on the barrel extension index pin but not on the threads of the barrel nut.

Sorry for the late update as my internets has been down.

got it off, jeez luiez, had to be 400 ft lbs, thought i broke the wrench again.

no loctite except for the locating pin like he said.
