What's the difference between gen. 1 and gen. 2 mags? Are the gen. 1 mags reliable?
The Gen 1 mags were converted M14 mags during the ban time frame. Since the ban was lifted, ArmaLite redesigned the mag and the follower to the Gen 2 style.
Both are reliable, just with the Gen 2 you don't have to work the plunger on the Gen 1 follower.
Now there is more of a variety of capacities to be had.
