I was just wondering what kind of bolt carrier Aramlites come with, are they designed for Auto? Just wondering because i noticed mine came with M4 feedramps, which are also designed for Auto.

Both of mine are SA, and I have plenty of rifles that are semi's that came with the M4 feed ramps, not sure what they have to do with anything other than better feeding with the heavier bullet weights...

Armalite carriers are semi-auto.
No optional auto carriers available.
Auto carriers are available from other manufacturers like Colt, Sabre, LMT, Noveske, and CMMG.

Armalite contemplated a long time and decided to use CMV barrels in their rifles sometime in summer of 2008.
First, they had to use up their stock piles of 4140.
It's almost summer of 2009. They must have a shitload of 4140's to last them 100 years.

We do make full auto carriers but for obvious reasons they're not for sale to the general public. The M4 feed ramps were instituted for better feeding, not for full auto rifles necessarily. We currently use CMV barrels for our M-15's but not currently for the AR-10's at this time.

There's no mention in the specs that barrels are CMV.
Are CMV barrels marked as such to differentiate them from 4140 that you have used previously?

We just haven't changed the information on the website yet as this is a recent change. The CMV barrels will have a "V" stamping on the barrel.

Is it Armalite's position that it's illegal to use a FA carrier in a non-registered semi-auto?

The bolt carrier is not part of the fire control group, that's in the lower receiver. Even one full-auto FCG part will put you in jail. Yes, an auto cut bolt carrier is needed to activate the autosear, obviously. BATF said it's fine to have one in a S/A gun as in no way by itself can it make the gun fire more than once.

I run Young and LMT/BCM F/A carriers w/ H-buffers in my guns for the added weight. Over time as your gas port opens up, you'll need more buffer/BCG weight.

While i have you in here... I was just wondering if the front handguard has always been so thin in diameter on your AR-15s? Are they milspec? When handling my armalite trademarked airsoft m15a4, then holding my armalite ar-15 the handguard is much smaller, then i just thought all ar-15 handguards were like that i just saw a picture of a colt and they seem to have the larger handguards too. Do you offer larger handgurads? I have larger hands and my fingers touch on the current one.

The smaller handguards are the typical single heat shield carbine type. The oval shaped,or larger handguards are the new M4 style.
The Colt and BCM oval M4 type handguards are also double heat shielded and made of the proper heavy thermold type plastic..
As a note, the handguards on the newer Armalite carbines and rifles Ive received and eye balled in the last year are also very thin cheap polymer, unlike the heavy thermold they used on the rifles previously.I was told by the folks in the repair section at Armalite the lighter handguards were being used now due to availability.

The Armalite M15 and airsoft handguard comparison almost caused me to flip backwards out of my chair....

What its more comfortable. Laugh all you want at airsoft, but i use my removable carrying handle from the one pictured on my real m15, and it works perfectly!

I wasn't pokin fun at you or the airsoft...I just thought it was funny and sad at the same time, that the airsoft has the more modern M4 oval handguards and the M15 does not.
If you like the feel of the M4 oval handguards as I do...like I said Bravo Co. has them with double heat shields and at a reasonable price.Very nice upgrade IMHO.
