Safe process for swapping LaRue Aimpoint T1 mounts?...

I don't want to be one of those "I stripped the threads on my Aimpoint T1" folk.
What is the best process to follow for removing one LaRue mount and installing another LaRue mount for an Aimpoint T1?
Heat Gun around screw areas to Medium Heat then remove? Obviously don't want to screw up the mount or the optic.
