Hello all,
While this is not NV related, this is one of those VERY special times I had to post here.
Yesterday I got an email from a dear friend of mine and also a comrade in arms from the past. His daughter who is one of those incredible soft hearted individuals that has decided to do something in honor of our brave men and women in uniform. She (Sarah) has decided to run across America in honor of our heroes.
When I first read the email encouraging me to watch her progress via her blog that will be updated once she starts the journey, I called and told her dad I want talk with Sarah as it's been awhile.
The following morning I got to shake her hand (and got a hug) in telling her how humbled I was she has embarked on such a noble effort. At this time, I was really taken back to a time where her dad and I lost a dear friend Robert L. Shultis while on duty. This incident shook my foundation some 12 years ago and my heart and soul still goes out to each and every man and women in uniform each and every day they're thought of.
Here is a link to Sarah's Remembering our Hero's blog,
http://chasingasphalt.wordpress.com/. Her dad is also traveling with her on this 4 month journey starting July 24th from Southern California, (but he will be in a trailer!)
If any of you would like to add a fallen heroes name and their association to her blog, that is all Sarah is requesting. She can be emailed at sarahmemoto@gmail.com
Please keep Sarah in mind over the next several months as she travels across America for all our brave men and women in uniform fallen and present.

A veteran is someone who, at one point, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of ‘up to and including their life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.
Sarah started her run today with a lazy opening jaunt of 27 miles from Huntington Beach California to Corona Cali in 98 deg heat.
Local media covered her journey here.

We will keep everyone updated on her incredible journey as she runs across America.

Day 2/3 went VERY good, with a 32 mile Police Escort through some of the canyons not too far from our own office!

MANY thanks to Riverside and Beaumont PD, I know many of these gents and it was great to see them out there!

It was great to see the placards posted here and there during Sarah's run, some of which she showed on the link above.
Sarah has also posted a map of her journey. Please take a look at it, and see if includes somewhere near your own home town. She would thoroughly enjoy seeing all the support!
