I just got a hold of what appears to be a P-4 POF Predator rail. It looks identical but doesn't have amy markings. The upper it was on a DI not a gas piston.
My question is in this picture what is that little metal piece on the bottom right?

I thought that piece was under the rail on the upper I pulled it from, but it doesn't fit when attached to a stripped upper I have.
If you look at this picture of a Predator P-4 there is an extension over the very end towards the charging handle which the above picture (nor my rail) have.
Are these 2 different rails pictures or am I missing something? I also really need to know what that third piece of the rail is. Thanks!
That small piece is called the barrel nut spacer. It goes on the top of the barrel nut.
There are three different P-4's
P-4
P-4X
P-4SX
The photo of the HG alone is the P-4
The photo of the carbine shows a P-4X.
Ok, thanks.
I guess I'll have to just put up with the gap on the rail between end of the P-4 and the rear of the receiver. Can't beat a free POF rail.
The X in the P-4X means it is extended to cover the entire receiver. if you have just a P-4 that will leave some room to mount a standard flip up rear sight behind the rail so you do not have to buy a shorter flip up sight. I have 1 or 2 like that. just get a rail mounted front sight and your good to go.
Wouldn't the back sight be lower in relation to the front sight if the front sight is attached to the rail?
I'm I'm looking at a Magpul MBUS setup and Burris fastfire combo for sights. Inexpensive but I'm not going super expensive on a range toy.

The SX is POF's slim line model.

I asked primarily the same question last week. The answer to be more specific is that the S or slim model does not have full length rails along the side. I can't wait for my predator rail to get here next week, it will be like Christmas in June.
