MI 12" 2-piece free float. Rails are to narrow for rail covers(Rattle when installed)

Update. 11/07/11 I sold the one I had, and bought another used one recently. I am having the same problem, and this time I tried installing a PRI flip up front sight, and it rattles. I do not have enough "rail" to tighten it all the way? The rail covers are also loose. I have a MI SS9 rail I purchased, and the rails/sight fit fine on that? Just wondering if you received any more complaints about this? I really don't wanna send it in as I've been waiting to find a rail for my upper for over a month.

I've had my rail for a while now, and I've had to put tape under my rail covers to make them fit on my rail. These are Troy, and Kac covers. I've I don't use tape, they are to loose fitting and the Troys don't even lock down. They just slide right off.

I was just wondering if this is a common problem?

what model is it and give us a call . this is not common.

The rail is hacked up(It was cut for a front sight base) So no way I can send it back. I don't wanna make a big deal out of it(Well, besides posting about it), I was just wondering if it was common, apparently not though. I had another rail that was a the T-12 series and had no problems with it that's just why I was asking.

Disregard. I tried a newer rail cover that my brother had and it fit. I'm leaning towards the rails that I had previously where a little bit wider than what I have now.

Update in OP. Problem with another set I purchased?

I can call tomorrow(I'm sure your not there now). But, this is not the one I "hacked" up for a FSB. This is a another one I purchased used recently(Just got it today). I never noticed the sights not working as I had a set of ARMS #70(The plastic ones) and a MBUS so the plastic just "flexed" to the rail on the other one I had.

I tried the rails, and the sight on a MI-SS9 rail, and they fit no problem? So I dunno if these are machined just a little to small?

I will be in tomorrow . i look forward to talking to you about this.

Alright. Thanks..

Just got done installing the new one. Everything fits snug on it now I will send the old rail back to you Monday. Is it fine if I keep the old screws for spares?
