How do I tell the difference between MCTAR-17 and the MCTAR-17C(Colt version)? I bought one at a local gunshop and can't get it on my Rock River upper. The shop says it is definately the MCTAR-17, but there is no model number on it for me to be sure.

Thanks,

RDE

first are you using a hand guard removal tool? they do go on very tight.
you can tell the difference between a 17 and a 17c by a vertical slot being cut in the 17c. this is done so they can be identified.
thank you

No, I got the midlength ones I bought on without a tool. I ordered one from you today. I needed it anyway.

The
mid length models are all the same . They are made to work with the triangular hand guard cap. they will work with all mid length gas system rifles. Your plastic on the rifle should measure about 9.0 inches.
