Hi all, first post here - been lurking for some time though! Great site!
I have on order a CMMG AR in .22 which should arrive in the next couple of weeks. I am looking to buy a few bits for it and i wondered if a Free Float Handguard specifically the Daniel Defense Omega handguard would make any difference to accuracy?
Maybe it would would be a waste of money on a .22? I'm sure on the .223 it would help a lot at long distance.
Would i be better just spending my money on a two piece non free-floating handguard? Certainly a lot cheaper.
Any input would be appreciated. I have never even handled an AR before but always fancied one! (But due to our crappy laws over here we can only have semi-auto .22's and straight-pull .223!

)
I free float nearly all my rifles. Will you notice an accuracy difference? Maybe. One thing is for sure, it won't hurt.
I like the Midwest Industries T series for a mid priced free float. But the Omega will install without taking the carbine apart.
I say do it. Plus, it looks bad azzed

Thanks for the quick reply Dave, this is the reason I decided on the Omega! I can buy it from MidwayUK and I live in the Scottish Highlands and not too many AR owners around here! So thought I could fit it myself without removing the front sight and buying some of the other tools that seem to be required for some of the other handguards. Is it a pretty straight forward job do you know?

Yes, pretty straight forward.
