Just saw the MK-3 in a CDNN ad. Looks great. Just wondering how much it weighs? Thanks.

I would really like to know the weight of this gun - I plan to buy a .308 AR in the next few months but I want something light that I can carry all day while hunting. Something like this but with a light weight 18" barrel would be perfect for me.

Very, very nice. I like it that they left the Fwd Assist out of the mix because in 40+ years of loving
the 15 and 25 I've NEVER had to use it once. That includes military service, too.

This offering looks like an excellent feral hog gun; very nice concept and execution.

It was in an email they sent out.

shadowcop might be able to confirm this.

I think we shot the full auto version of this at Knob Creek. The one I shot had a 16" stainless barrel with the CRT'ish stock and had a VFG (not my preference). It was light enough, seemed pretty well balanced and didn't have any problems when I shot it. I am looking at the SASS version now, but MIGHT put this one on the list as well.

I think it would be a great run & gun rifle... Maybe hogs and stuff

You'll like the SASS version as well. I've got .308 fever now

Anyone pick one of these up yet? I have .308 fever too. I'm seriously considering selling my 6.8 upper to (partially) fund either one of these or a DPMS 308.

Did they have any color options? Please also weigh the thing and let us know.
Thanks

Awesome, I'm really interested to hear the weight also if you can weigh it. Even more so, I'm interested in how it balances and handles.

No color options and it looks like it is a carbine length gas system which I will replace at some point. I do plan to weigh it before it gets some upgrades. I don't have a scope for it yet so the range report will be a while. I am looking for the best options for a barrel and handguard.

ETA: If you can't wait, there are some for sale with pics on gunbroker.

Are the barrels chrome lined?

ETA - CDNN's newest catalog has these and says they're availabe in black, DE, or OD.

I see that, but Steve at CDNN said they only had black. Maybe they have more now. As far as the barrel there is only SS.

Yes, I'm very interested as well. Wondering what kind of accuracy you are getting. Thanks

It has landed. My initial impression is that it is well built with a good finish. The barrel is lazer engraved and it is clear that the upper and lower receiver was machined and not forged. The upper and lower has a good fit with a slight amount of play which does not concern me. As you can see an ASAP fits with no modification and I did install a Phase 5 "bad" lever. The Phase 5 lever won't lock the bolt back very easily but I think it will take a small amount of modification to the Phase 5. The MOE grip fits with no spacer as they machined the lower to fit correctly. The buffer tube is mil-spec and fits great. The buffer is short and there is a polymer pad at the back of the spring.

The only serious problem I encountered is the handguard. In short, it's cheap. There are tiny screws holding it together and some of them were loose allowing the tube to move. I tightened them and the tube is not moving at the moment. I don't believe that will fix it. I plan to put a new handguard and it will mostlikely a Troy Extreme. I would love to put a Knights but that will have to be way in the future.

The barrel is a lighter profile under the handguard and a standard profile after the gas block which is a Mid-Length gas system with a 1 in 10 twist. It actually goes to the end of the hanguard.

I don't have a certified scale but I do have a digital bathroom scale. I stood on it got the weight and then stood on it with the rifle. I did this about ten times. I consistantly got 8lbs flat. I am still not too sure about the accuracy, but there you have it.

The rifle has a better balance now that I added the CTR plus RISR and POD. I plan to replace the barrel with a 1 in 11 or something similar.

Here are some crappy cell phone photos. I'll work on getting better ones later.

The two stage trigger is fair. It is short and breaks clean but not like the glass rod Geissele triggers. It will certainly do for the moment.

So was it front heavy before the stock swap? I actually like a rifle that's a little heavier in front than most people. As a reference point my .223 with an 18" WOA SPR barrel and an A2 stock is perfect for me. A lot of people think that barrel is too heavy to carry all day but I love it because it makes offhand shooting much steadier.

I've considered buying their SASS with the 18" fluted barrel and swapping out the PRS stock for something lighter, just to have a little extra barrel length.

It was not too front heavy, but it did balance out with more weight in back. I considered the sass too but not having to sell the PRS and having the milspec tube set up already, is a big bonus. I want a different twist barrel so that is a non issue. I like that it has similar lines to a SR25. I have never liked the profile of most DPMS style uppers as they never seem to match the lower. I am not a mega hater but it never appealed to me either. Before this I had my eye on a JD Machine set. I am hoping to make this set up accurate and balance similar to an SR25 EMC.

Thanks - I'm thinking maybe the SASS may be better for me since I prefer an A2 or A1 stock anyway. If I buy the SASS and sell off the PRS stock I would probably be better off.

Here it is on a scale without bipod. As you can see it is right about 9lbs with CTR, RISR, and POD as well as all three rails included in the box.

Thanks for the feedback! I should be ordering one next week. Have you had a chance to shoot it, if so how does it perform? I'm wrestling between the 16" and 18" barrels. The stocks don't matter to me much as I'll be replacing either one.

Thanks!

I won't be shooting this barrel as I already have it up for sale. Here are a few pics. Everything looks well built. It's a nice looking barrel.

Can we get a picture of one of these in Dark Earth? Can we order from CMMG or is CDNN the only place? Thanks.

I'm not CMMG but as of last week when I ordered mine, CDNN only had black in stock and no ETA on OD or DE. Also, CDNN is the sole source for them, which I don't understand being that you can purchase any of CMMG's other products directly from them.

I am curious to the reason for this. Hope that helps you out.

These are special runs from Cmmg that CDNNSPORTS buys. Almost like a prototype kinda thing that's why you cant purchase directly from CMmg

I just got my Rainier Arms barrel 1:11 twist for $185 shipped. Now I only have to wait for the KAC URX 3.1 Rail which is supposed to be released at SHOT. It will probably double the price of the rifle, but it will still be below many off the shelf rifles. It will also be in the exact configuration I had wanted.
