Just saw this on CMMG site >>> 2nd Generation .22LR BHOA Adaptor
What improvement can be expected? Better reliability?
I felt somehow disappointed that I have to spent more for something that will actually work.

There's a lot on that page that's news to me. I received all of the original stuff for
testing but have none of the updated parts to give a report on.

Same here. I know there were some changes made to the Gen ll BHOA to work better with the new Gen ll mags but I haven't seen any of it.
I have discussed this with CMMG a few months back. The change is the 45 degree angle on the tab that the follower pushes against. I tried to grind mine with a Dremel but the steel is very hard.

It would be nice if they explained the changes and what they accomplish.

The 2nd gen bhoa works with our new EVO mag. The only mod is a 45degree added to the actuated tip. Sorry, lots going on here. Trying to get a bunch of projects coordinated.

Thanks for the info. So, aside from risking future warranty coverage, if an end user wanted to add that 45 degree angle they would essentially up to new spec? Is this item backwards compatible with existing mags, and for that matter, will the EVO function correctly if the Gen II BHOA isn't upgraded?
And just as an aside.... I REALLY HOPE ONE OF THE PROJECTS YOU'RE BUSYING YOURSELVES WITH IS THE PS90 CONVERSION!!!!

I don't think the labeling of these parts makes it very clear exactly what is what and needed when.

- the part 22-BHOATAB is just the catch (metal part)? It's not the complette BHOA (like part 22-BHOA) right?

I spoke with CMMG today. The BHOA's (cpmplete) being shipped now are the Gen ll
The BHOA ada[ter is to upgrade the Gen 1 BHOA. It's actually a mod you can do yourself with a grinder. The tab is very slightly shorter and has a 45 degree angle on it. You can tell from the adapter picture what to do.

We did put some bhoa tutorials up on YouTube. One of these show the difference and the changeover. Sorry, I can't imbed vid, since I am on my phone.

I am currently waiting on an 9"upper that i ordered last month. can I expect it to have the most up to date improvements like the gen 2 bhoa?

What about all the first gen hold open mags I bought? Will they work with this? Do I have to change over to the new and scrap all my mags? The reason I ask is that I have some new modular mags on order.

Your old mags will work just fine with either version of BHOA. The newer version mags will require the updated actuator.

I ordered 2 of the new BHOAs yesterday. I want to be ready for the new mags

And I like buying them as I think the CMMG BHOA is a most excellent design that I want to support.
I know I could notch the old one, but I am thinking of keeping my original one as a "classic". My 2nd BHOA, well we will not talk of it's fate

I have an old stainless steel conversion kit I purchased three years ago give or take. My kit has always functioned great.
I saw the BHOA on CMMG's site.
Question, will the BHOA work correctly with my old conversion kit? I understand I have to purchase new mags.

There are a couple mods you may/may not have to do to the bolt. They are minor but I would try it first. Yes it will work, even if you have to file the bottom of the bolt slightly. If that happens, I'll post a pic of the mod.

BHOA comparison: Gen 2 is both thicker at the top, and has the 45deg slope.
