Stupid question, why do CMMG mags need the fitment bumps?

If AR-15 mags are all a standard dimension why do the CMMG .22 mags need the little bumps that might have to be shaved down to fit?

I hope I'm not asking a trade secret question. Just saw the directions with my new magazine and I was curious.

Also, please tell the folks in the shipping department: "Nice octopus!". They'll understand. :P

Because of the spec / tolerance on the AR-15 Mag Well. CMMG did this so everyone can have a custom fit with
very little effort, really..

And .22 mags are much more sensitive to proper location to feed vs 5.56 mags.

Short, straight cartridge vs long shouldered/tapered cartridge...
