Back in November 2010, I posted this....

CMMG answered.......

We have a new design for a free float tube that will be what we feel is the ultimate blend between function and affordability. It will will be the width of a DD rail, have a continuous picatinny on top, and a variety of bottom and side rail options. Best part is, it will retail under $100. At this point we plan to offer a hard coat anodized version and a ceramic for $10 less.

A couple projects before it, but it won't be long. It will sure be worth the wait!

So, hopefully this still the case? And what is the status?

I personally can't wait. I really hope they offer this in magpul OD in rifle length. I kinda don't want to start my build until I know.

Most excellent! When can we expect to see some pics of these in the online catalog?

I do want to clarify

We do have these in house(finally). The first run(s) are going to go to our distributors. They will be receiving them shortly and when they do, we will link to their site. Almost there!

Gotta have wrench for home install. Original supplier dropped the ball. One of the many joys of manufacturing.

also you mentioned the ceramic colors... i assume that is going to be just the standard fde,od,foliage right? any possibility of like a light grey? almost like gun metal grey?

They were hiding it in the AR15 new products section. (Somebody needs to make it a hotlink)

These will be a nice, lite weight, narrow alternative to the higher priced hand guards and the Magpul plastic hand guards.
I do know what other features could be added but I'm sure they will come up with some

The carbine and mids will be the first to be released. We beefed up the barrel nut to handle the additional stresses for the rifle length. I should have a production update tomorrow on the wrenches.

Will these be offered on the 6.5" .22 uppers once they're both released? CMMG 6.5" .22 upper w/ 7-9" Revo handguard is exactly what I want for my .22 SBR.
