What are the options for replacing incandescent lamps on an E1e?

Or should I just get a bunch of lamps for post-2012?

KL1 heads are old school heads from Surefire.

The KX1 head is the most recent head available from Surefire to install on your E1E.

The KX1 is a dual output head, puts out a low level, about 3 lumens, and a high level, about 45 lumens.

I've been using the KX1 heads on several of my E1E lights. In fact, I was able to come across some single output KX1 heads (45 lumens) that I much prefer so I have no experience with the dual output head. My lights illuminate at full power only. I do not have the option to click to a lower intensity.

KX1 heads are brighter on HIGH than a KL1 head.

KX1 heads have a much longer run time on a single 123 battery. For me I get about 3 times the life or more out of a battery from the KX1 head as from the KL1 head. Remember, I cannot click down to a lower power level on my lights because the KX1 heads I own are all single output heads. You may get longer life from a battery then me because you would most likely only be able to obtain the dual output head and would be able to use the lower intensity which would stretch out battery life.

My last 3 jobs within the last year and a half I used to replace the battery once every 2-3 days with the KL1 head. Sometimes I had to replace the battery once a day with the KL1 head. I could go two weeks or more with the KX1 head. Yes, I used that small light that much in my work. I preferred using my small light more so than a drop light.

Hope this helps
