Uhh, this is your barrel right?

So, silly question but I recently picked up one of your BFH barrels in a private sale and it occurs to me after it arrives that I have no way of knowing whether it is a BCM barrel or not. I figured I'd go straight to the source. I did purchase one of the standard barrels from you and I notice that the writing on the barrel is much smaller, i.e. 1/7 twist 5.56 NATO writing is what I'm talking about.

The current barrel reads in a font larger than the one on my standard barrel "HP MP 1/7 5.56 NATO" which can be seen in the following pics. Just looking for a confirmation that this is a BCM BFH barrel.

Got a factory dimple, I presume, for the gas block installation.

BCM, did I get hosed?

All of the hammer forged barrels I've seen are marked "HF" or "BFH". Don't know whether that's a BCM, but I don't think it's hammer forged.

See, this is not what I need to hear.

Can someone from BCM confirm that this barrel was manufactured by them based on these markings and the dimpling, etc? On the EE, we go by the honor system; however, there is always that part of the me - the 0.00001% - that needs to confirm everything and manufacturer's don't really brand their barrels so unless you buy it direct from the manufacturer there really is no way to tell who manufactured it. The dimple looks the same as in the photo on BCM's website of the BFH barrel markings. The text is exactly the same, too. The only thing different is the size of the lettering. I really hope someone can confirm this.

The close-up pics of the BFH barrel on the website depict the same text. There doesn't appear to be any marking that says BFH on the barrel. My deal is more with the lettering on the website barrel which is smaller and identical to what is on my BCM standard (incidentally, the site product page photos for the standard and BFH barrels look very similar so perhaps same photos). I'm hoping BCM produced a batch of BFH barrels with different size lettering. Maybe the barrel I acquired is an older production. Maybe it's a newer production and the photo in the website is older. Dunno.

What makes you say it is a BCM? How are you identifying it?

Send a pic of the unit directly to them.

They ought to know... ;)

I did and the response was verbatim:

"It might be a Bravo barrel, but it is not a BFH barrel."

Not good.

Looks to me like a 14.5 middy.

Last I checked, BCM hasn't sold BFH 14.5 middy barrels stripped...only on complete uppers.

Naw, that's just the perspective. It's an 11.5" carbine. I guess I neglected to mention that. It's all been sorted out and confirmed that it is an 11.5" standard barrel and not a BFH barrel. This is great news for me because it means I should have my pistol build complete by the end of this week!

Everything was sorted out and life is lookin' good!

Sooooo...was this all a misunderstanding or did you and the seller settle up? It's easy enough to see the BFH barrel is more expensive than the standard barrel.

Yeah, we settled up. We confirmed it is a BCM but not a BFH. Seller's mistake and rectified promptly and to satisfaction!
