I know this is a question that has been asked alot, so here it goes. Which barrel should I get for my HD and CHTF rifle and why? The LW or the HBAR? Thanks for the help. Advantages and disadvantages?

I vote LW. You will not put enough rounds down the pipe to make a difference.

It's more practical to go with a LW or even a standard barrel for the purposes you mentioned. I'd suggest a 14.5" middy with A2X hider in the barrel configuration of your choosing (when they come back in stock).

Light Weight

Standard

medium weight is good BUT!!! so you would by a barrel on a scenario that will probably never happen.buy what you will enjoy shooing

Get the lightweight, they handle so much nicer.

Yes.

Does BCM even sell HBARs?
ETA: just looked... the stainless ones I guess.

For an HD/SHTF rifle get yourself a lightweight profile 16" or 14.5" midlength.

I absolutely love standard profile barrels. I'm a huge retro AR freak, I guess it goes with the territory. My LW 16" BFH midlength and I became inseparable instantly after the first time I shouldered it and shot it. It's just a fantastic feeling weapon. It will never, ever, ever go on the chopping block.

I prefere the look of the heavier barrel. Ifs weights not a issue id go with it.

My SOCOM profile barrel feels like it handles really well... Then again my other rifle before it was a super beast as far as weight.

One of these days I'm sure I'll try a lightweight profile barrel and fall in love.

What's the ACTUAL difference in weight between the two? How much am I really saving in weight?

depending on which barrels, it can be a pound in weight savings.

And remember the weight savings is forward of the fulcrum, making the weight savings perceived to be much greater than it is.

Definitely LW. Much better balance IMO. And I think if it is a SHTF rifle you will probably carry it more than shoot it. Ounces become pounds pretty quickly.

Get all three.

Gov't, LW, and HBAR.

Get 2 of each. Give them to your friends.
