Hey guys,
I some how ended up with a .223 3rd that needs a home and decided to put in an AR instead of a bolt gun. What do I need to do to make it work? I'm trying to build up a dedicated rifle to go with a 740 raptor and this thing will be suppressed 100% of the time.

The mounting for a 3rd looks like this. So you will want to start with a bull barrel and have it contoured for the 3rd and threaded 11/16 x 24.

the one i have is threaded 1/2x28 if that makes a difference, could I use a collar for the shoulder or does it need to have contact all the way back?

Oops, missed .223 cause i just answered a 30 cal question, sorry.

The .223 3rd does use 1/2 x 28 threads, and yes, a collar can be used.

i appreciate the help... I have a 30 cal 3rd as well

forgot to ask... how much for a collar and to make it work since I won't need a muzzle device?

Thanks again

Well, the collar runs $20. However, i don't know of any barrels that are set to take a 3rd collar, so you would need a Contour fwd of Gas Block ($65), to put a step in for the collar to stop on.
