I hope the title doesn't seem like I'm saying there were problems with my upper when I got it back, just oddities I'm curious about.

It was a little less than a year ago I sent you my upper to have the barrel contoured, and I meant to ask sooner, but didn't get around to it until now.

When I got it back, there was bright red sticky goop around the barrel nut/delta ring area, I know the barrel nut/receiver threads need moly grease, but this red sticky stuff makes me think you might have put locktight on it instead, which has me concerned, or is the moly grease supposed to be red and sticky?

Later on, I removed the flash hider and FSB so I could change the handguard cap, (needed triangular one for 607 style handguards) and I found that there was a paper thin shiny metal ring between the flash hider and crush washer, what was that for? whatever it was for, I put it back when I put the FH back on, Though when I recently installed a different FH, I didn't put the ring back.

The red goo, is grease not loctite. The thin metal ring is a shim we sometimes use so we dont have to torque the CW too much. Your new FH probably didnt need it.
