About a year, maybe 1.5 years ago I had you guys pin a KX3 on one of your barrels. You said I'd get sick of it, and, I think I have. Here is my issue.

You guys only had the heavy barrels in stock at the time so I went with that., had you cut it to 13.7 and pinned the KX3 with a Larue 13.2 rail. If I send you the upper back:

1. Is there a different comp or FH you can pin in place of the KX3 to keep it legal length?

2. Can you remove the Larue 13.2 somehow and re-profile the HBAR to something lighter, while keeping the KX3?

3. Is there any possible way for me to remove the Larue without cutting off the KX3?

4. Can you guys "Un-Pin" the KX3 without destroying it?

I'm sending in another barrel for some work next week and thought if we can figure something out with this 13.2/KX3 I will send it in as well for the work.

Thanks guys

Your best bet is to take it apart and cut the barrel to 12.5". Sell that barrel, buy a new one, and build from there.

If you send it to us, you're looking at:
$50 take apart/reassemble
$60 to remove/salvage the KX3
$65 to contour
$30 to reattach the KX3, and it will still be off balance....

So if I send it in with my other barrel I am sending you tomorrow (Saturday Sept 10th) is it still $50 to take it apart if it's a Larue rail and I have removed the barrel nut keepers and loosened the tightening collar already?

All you'd have to do is remove/salvage the KX3 ($60) and cut/thread the barrel ($65) then mail the parts back to me.

If so, I'll send you both uppers to work on but I thought $50 to remove the barrel seems a little steep when the barrel can be removed when the KX3 is removed, which I'm being charged for anyway?

Or maybe just charge me the $60 to remove/salvage the KX3 and just mail the upper assembly and the KX3 back to me?

You lost me?

If you are sending a complete upper(regardless the configuration) It's $50 to take apart and put back together.

If you want us to only remove the KX3, that will cost $60. Removing the KX3 does not require disassembly.

I sent you both barrels today. It's order 36680962

I was basically asking do you really charge the $50 disassembly fee if you're just removing a barrel nut (I removed everything else and loosened the collar already)

If there was not a charge, I wanted you to cut/thread the barrel after you removed the KX3 but since you do charge the fee, I just want you to remove/salvage the KX3 on that barrel, pin the Dynacomp on the other barrel and ship it all back to me.

Standard response is yes. The $50 is our insurance policy, to cover our asses because we have seen some PHUCKED up ways for people to screw on a barrel nut. People glue barrel nuts, they glue barrel extensions, the cross thread, they install aluminum nuts dry and gall the threads, they crack receivers, and screw the nut over the crack...

I type this laughing as much as I am serious, it happens. If someone did assemble your upper wrong, and it breaks in our possession - we end up getting blamed. That $50 goes to cover our expenses.

I'll make you a deal. If we assembled your upper, or you are SURE the upper was properly assembled, we take it apart for free.

If someone else did any of the above, and during the disassembly process, we break a barrel wrench, or crack your receiver - you are responsible for any expense.

Hell yes I will take that deal! Yes sir.

I am 100% positive you guys assembled it when you installed the KX3 on it

Sweet, so I guess cut that bad boy down to 11.5 - 12.5 for me I guess then you can just ship it back unassembled with the other barrel.

I'm sure you guys have seen some effed up shit in there. I can only imagine haha.

Hey Steve,

What is the recommended length to cut it down to? It's a stainless Mid-Length barrel.

Only thing I would personally run a KX3 on would be something in the ~7.5" range. I've got one on a 7.5" AR and it's pretty sweet as it balances well and keeps the blast downrange, but I think it's useless on anything carbine-length... I've got Vortexes on just about everything else.

Mid length? I dont recommend any less than 14.5"

If you want to make it shorter, you should make it a CAR gas system, which is even more money....

You may be better leaving it the length it is and wait for another sucker who wants a KX3 permed on
