I just got through using Brownell's "Alumahide II" in coyote color and it's REALLY close to Magpul's FDE.
I have an FDE UBR on that rifle and they are very close. The biggest difference is that the plastic on the
Magpul stuff is truly "FLAT", as in it doesn't reflect light. The spray paint is a sort of "egg shell" and it has
a "sheen" to it that definately reflects more light.

I bought some clear matte Alumahide to try out on some mags that I already coated in Coyote to see if
it tones it down some.

The colors are damn close though.... I'll try to get a picture up.

I Dont have any pics but I just painted my lower with alumahyde coyote. It is really close but not exact. I think Magpuls FDE has a touch more brown in it.

AR15 - Brownells Alumahyde II - Coyote - Closer color match however IMO is not as durable as Duracoat

Remington 870 - Duracoat - Magpul FDE - Lighter in color - Good durability

Noveske N6 AR10 - KG Gunkote - Lighter than Magpul FDE - Appears to be tougher than Duracoat - time will tell.

I used duracoat magpul fde also and really like the results. Easy to use and holds up great.

I agree on the shipping though. I got a few colors to make it worth the freight

Just did my optics with Brownells AH II in dark earth. Its a bit darker, very flat, very nice. For $ can't be beat. Tip: don't touch after painting for 24 hrs or you may ruin it.

The AH II Dark Earth is a little darker than the Magpul FDE, right?

I am having a hard time deciding between AH II DE and Coyote.. Not that it should matter, as it's meant to be camo but still.. LOL..

The AH II seems to be a better match in these pics. Is it a bit darker than the plastic? Does it spray on thin like Gun Coat? Anyone know how it holds up to different solvents?
