 FDE vs. Coyote Brown- poll

As is stated in my other thread I believe that Coyote Brown is superior in most environments to Flat Dark Earth (which isn't dark) and at least as good in 99% of other enviroments. Please vote if you'd like to see it back or not... or indifferent.

Of course I voted Coyote. It has become the new "OD" to Marines. Problem comes in that the Army chose FDE instead so the sheer number of Soldiers in comparison to Marines is going to make the FDE product line more appealing to companies wishing to produce such items. That said, I am still down for a line of MagPul products in Coyote! I'd snatch up a CTR, MIAD and 10+ PMAGs in Coyote the day they were released!

In my environment it's green about an equal length of time, maybe a little less. However there is always some tan from hay/grass and brown from pine trees and straw. If you put green in a brown environment, it sticks out. However, if you put brown in a green environment, it doesn't stand out (or nearly as much). In any wooded area true tan (FDE) sticks out like a sore thumb. The darker coyote doesn't. When it snows, every color sticks out except white... (there is no snow here)...

Coyote Brown is much more subdued than FDE.

It is indeed. But FDE and tan do NOT stick out like a sore thumb in wooded areas. They work quite well.

The wooded area I'm talking about is a forest, mostly pine, that has little to a medium amount of underbrush. In a thicket, FDE won't stick out as much. I don't want to argue. If we have to agree to disagree, that's fine.

Not arguing, just discussing.

I have personally tried both out in hardwood and pine forests (we have some of those here in FL ). They both work and work well. If I could only choose one, it would be coyote.

I know, but further discussion would have been of little value.

This is probably one of those times when I should just put down keyboard and go back to drinking beer but...

For some reason I have a serious pet peeve type issue about FDE - specifically that it has replaced coyote in so many of magpul's prodcucts. First - if I understand it right, it is a SOCOM color, which means that regular army people can't use it - where as 175,000 plus Marines can actually use coyote (yours truly included)

Also, and granted this is a completely subjective and personal opinion about the colors (although I am right!!) - but it seems to me that SOCOM looked at coyote and said "that's a great color' then proceeded to make it just a little effeminate for their own use.

ok - back to beer!

Article and comments (mostly from soldiers) regarding the ACU and at times FDE.

Great article! I think I need to clear up that I'm not saying that Magpul should only produce one or the other, but both.

I'll say this. I like FDE and coyote both fine and dandy. I don't know if coyote will be coming back in the line up any time soon or at all. A lot going on here right now and sorry to say resurrecting coyote is not top of the list.

This thread has been noted though. Thanks guys.

Thanks. The last post in this thread was as much as a joke as it was a request. I agree that you guys have quite a bit on your plate and I'd rather you get those products completed, running well and operational than see coyote brown back...

Thanks,

If you can make PMags in Orange then why not CB?

The orange PMAGs were produced for a special order from an agency needing them for training purposes. Coyote can be produced, it would just be a matter of production capabability and the desire for the product.

As we all know Magpul is still a "small, tight knit" company and it is easy to understand that it would be hard for them to take on another special project with the Masada, the PDW, the TMAGs, UBR, PMAG20, and whatever else they have up their sleeve. To make up products in Coyote would require a transfer of resources from those other projects and in turn bitching by those on the sight wondering why the product hasn't be released.

I would not be suprised to see Coyote make a return, Rich, Drake and the crew have been very receptive to the needs of their customers thus far and I highly doubt that will change. (Unless the bitching continues) We just have to be patient and understanding.

*Drake... why am I doing your PR for you lol? Just kidding. I'll leave the disclaimer for you this time... don't want to take your trademark from ya!
