Del-Ton rifle kit question
Would it be possible to order a rifle kit and NOT have the upper assembled but have the bolt head spaced to the barrel? I like the price and a complete kit from Del-ton but want to build it up with my soon to be father-in-law. Would it be possible to order it disassembled?
I'm not sure about that as I think they'd have to build the upper headspace it then take it apart, then I think the headspacing might change anyways, but I'm not positive on this. I'm pretty sure I've heard of guys ordering the kit not assembled at all, but you would have to headspace it yourself if you went this route, but I think the way you want to do it you'd have to headspace it yourself too.
You would need a "Go" and "No Go Gauge" for 5.56x45.
Brownells sells them.....
You'd also need a n AR/M16 rifle wrench.
Good luck and and I seriously doubt you'll have any problems with a Del-Ton kit.
Del+ton has treated me right...
I only mentioned head space since they offered it as a service, unlike an FAL or AK, AR15 barrels do not "lose" their head space when installed in a trunnion / receiver. I've built a few AR's where it's a bolt from one place and a barrel from another.
What I'm really after is the packaged deal for all the parts, but doing the assembly myself.
That can be done! Make a note in your order comments online how you'd like it and it shouldn't be a problem!
