how many rounds does del ton test fire through the uppers?
i got my uppers today, and i was less than impressed. i did not think that the bolts would have so much wear on them from "test firing". they look dirtier(more used) than my bolt in my gun that has over 5k through it. on top of that, one bolt in one rifle kit had no MP markings on the bolt, but the bolt in the other kit did?? charging handles show decent wear too.
also, is there any way to remove the free float tube and line up the vents to use them for a bipod or something? they are not lined up.
also, while i am here, why is one of the uppers a key hole upper and one has a square? very inconsistent as far as parts go. no chrome lined chamber is a HUGE negative too, thought for sure chrome lined barrels would have a chrome chamber too.
You need to contact Del Ton directly. Their number is on your invoice.
My bolt was dirty from test firing but there was no wear at all.

i will on monday, but honestly i dont want to return them to pay a 20% restock fee.or hassle with return shipping. ill probably just sell them for dirt cheap after i function test them.

honestly, instead of coming in here and complaining about a wonderful company that we all love, you should contact the cutomer service dept at Del-Ton and have them fix your issues. I highly doubt your parts are as "used" as you say they are.

waiting on a new battery for my camera, mine went through the washer. should be here next week. i am not complaining about del-ton, i am ASKING a question. i have multiple del-ton lowers and happen to actually like del-ton, hence i ordered 2 kits from them.
since you want to focus on the wear and make this a bash the OP thread, how about explaining why they use mismatched parts? i am just asking since customer service is closed. not all of us have access to call a gun store from work.
plus, like i said, i dont want to pay return shipping, wait, wait some more and end up selling it anyways because i dont trust it. its easier to sell, but i need to know WHY before i sell it to some guy and potentially(accidently) misinform him. i want to be straight up with folks, thats why i am asking... not ragging.
if i was ragging, i would have mentioned the out of spec parts kit(would not even work in a del-ton lower), or the sand(blasting media, i have a sand blaster) in the carbine buffer tube, or one of many other things... just sayin'
i can tell ya one thing, if you have problems with your gun, you wont have to wait for anything. They will make it right, right now.
I had the opportunity to look over a Del-ton mid-lenght rifle this week. I noted the bolt carrier key was properly staked and the extractor had a carbine spring and bumper installed. It was a flot top but it had a non F marked (rifle) front sight base and a commercial reciever extension. Overall, it appeared to be a very solid rifle and alot of bang for the buck.
I read this part of your post "while i am here, why is one of the uppers a key hole upper and one has a square? very inconsistent as far as parts go." I don't unIderstand how two different forge marks on your upper recievers equate to inconsistent parts.
As was already mentioned. Different forge marks mean nothing. As far as the chrome lined chamber is concerned, did you order CL assemblies? If I am not mistaken, nobody sells CL barrels without the chamber being CL because it is actually less work to do them both at the same time, instead of going through the extra step of protecting the chamber from the chroming process. Do you know what a CL chamber looks like, or are you looking at the loading area of the upper and expecting it to be silver looking?
I have seen some very lightly marked MP bolts in the past. Are you sure you aren't just missing the markings since you claim the bolts are so dirty? Come to think of it, that may be why you think the chambers aren't chromed either. Clean the parts up and let us know.

I'll give you $100 for both of them. ;-) Seriously, contact them directly. They have great customer service. I've been well pleased with the complete kit and two uppers I've received and will buy from them again (when I get more money saved!). They should take care of you. Keep us posted on how things go.

i will update.
like i mentioned, i am NOT ragging on del-ton. i like them, i think they have excellent prices and i am not expecting colt or daniel defense type quality for what i paid for... i got a screaming deal on the uppers because of their sale. i was only asking.
forge mark is nothing to worry about, check that one off my list then.
the chambers dont look chrome, they look like someone sandblasted them. you can clearly see where the chrome starts in the barrel when using a flashlight to look at it. i have NEVER seen a chrome bore like this one, it threw me for a loop. i dont buy non chrome lined guns, and this one doesnt look the same. thats why i asked.
if my POS camera would work, i would take some pictures. somehow i left the battery in my pants pocket and it went through the washer a while back. i just ordered a new battery(proprietary, cant get them locally) because it was 8 dollars shipping for a 10 dollar battery, and i wanted to order some other things before getting bent over for shipping. it should be here next week. i guess i can hit up a range today and test them out.
Update: both rifles shot well. it was only a 25yd indoor range, but they all went bang and i had no issues. was using magpul BUIS for both 20" and 16", need to find a scope for the 20" dont know what i want to do.
looks like these will be fine, i may sell off one of them though... maybe the 16", dont know yet. i was just kind of puzzled as to why the chambers were not shiny like every other chrome lined barrel i have seen and the wear on the bolts from "test firing". it works though, so its all good.
Del-Ton used to use a seperate bolt for testing. I imagine they still do the same when firing the rifle.
I remember they once accidentally shipped a rifle with the test bolt, it's possible you have a used test bolt.
You need to call them, as everyone else has told you
Had 3 uppers come in, all test fired with the brass residue. Didn't bother me a bit.
The upper I got today has signs of test firing. Just another step in quality control by the manufacturer... but nothing that looked like even light use.
We test fire about 10 rounds through each upper. We do this as a function test. We do use the bolt that is shipped with it to ensure it is functional as well. Its not a lot of rounds, but it does cause brass marks and some evidence of wear on the bolt. All of our parts are brand new.
Hope that helps!

you could take a pic with your camera phone and send it to your photobucket account. 99% of my pics on here are from my mobil phone.
