Tell me about hunting feral pigs ...
Here is the deal, I have never hunted anything in my life (well some squirrels with a pellet gun when I was a kid)
About the only hunting that interests me is feral pig .
I live in the northern VA area and hear the closest place to hunt pigs will be South Carolina.
So where do I start ? Are there any good websites that have a good FAQ or primer on hog hunting ?
I know I need to know how to field dress at least ...
Apparently there are hogs in VA now so I guess you won't have to travel far.

You can look up videos on Youtube on how to hang, skin and process a hog, deer, etc. Once you get past the hair and either tusks, antlers, or buck teeth, there is little difference between breaking down a rabbit to a hog to an elk. Just more and more meat to deal with!
As to tactics, we have a thread down below that was about newbies hunting hogs.

Had a girl tell me this one night int he middle of trying to......
Oh hell, never mind. Reading the quote made me laugh my ass off!!!!!!!!!!!
Angst; here you go:http://dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/hunting.shtml
Looks like a state park at False Cape has feral hog hunts. Time to look at the info I put in the other thread, and there are several other good tips in that thread from others to get you started in the right direction. If there are farms near that area, start looking it all over, and try to figure what areas would be best.
In my opinion, if you've never hunted anything bigger than a gopher, I'd try to find a relatively cheap guided hunt. Langley Ranch here in Texas has great prices, but good luck getting in, booked through 2012, with August and December open for a few dates. That, or try to find an experienced larger game hunter to take you out and show you the ropes. I learned from my brother, who learned through my dad and my grandpa. Youtube has some great videos, as already mentioned, on skinning and seperating hogs, and just about everything else you could imagine.

This is more of the line of what I was thinking, I don't know anyone who hunts and I think its something best demonstrated in person, and I don't want to go in the field alone for the first time.
