Wow.....Black?

That's awesome.
6'6" 300lb Spring Black in Idaho.
20 yards with a Hoyt Ultra-Tec.
I hope to be taking down bears with my 30-06 soon...

6'4 Oregon west coast spring bear, about 100 yds with my lucky 7mm

435 lb. black bear, Butler County PA 1996. One of two bear killed in the county, tracked it through snow for two days and about 8 miles.
Kilt me a big blackie one time with a .308. Stalked up to where he was eating and shot him a whole bunch. 15 yards away. He was staring at me when I kilt him. I'm really proud of getting the drop on a wild animal like that.

472lb black bear in 2003. Warren County, Pa.
375 Remington Ultramag with 300 gr. Swift A Frame bullets
Shot him the first time in the left shoulder & out the base of the neck on the right side at 65 yds. He took off like I missed him and the second shot at about 110 yds. hit him quartering away in the last rib on the right exiting the left shoulder & it put him down. It was a hell of a drag without snow.
I am not a hunter, yet, but will never hunt bear. None really around me that I can hunt.
What do you do with the bear after you kill it? Stuff it? Eat it? What could one do?
Last week, we were sitting in our living room, and watched a momma black bear and two cubs walk across our lawn into the National Forest.
The dogs went ape-shit. Nothing got shot however.
Hi-jack over, carry on.

Stew meat and burgers, and a rug.
275 lb black bear in Maine. Shot him with a Remington 700 BDL in .458 mag. He was dead before he hit the ground.
Nah, blackies make good lasagna. Brownies are taxidermy only though.
Ooops, forgot about the lasagna recipe. Boy howdy, that stuff is awesome.
Bringing home my bear meat was a huge PITA, but almost worth it. But before I could eat a bite of the meat, a breaker tripper, the freezer went out and about half a deer, a bunch of ducks, the bear and a couple of antelope hams destined to become jerky all went bad.

Now that stinks. Sorry to hear of your loss of good vittles.

It is awesome.

OK,
Here's the story... (Before I get busted)
It's not me but the guy looks so much like me that I can hand the picture to my kids or my wife and they want to know when I killed that bear. My daughter was ready to kick my butt for killing that poor bear.

I've got a doppleganger out there somewhere. I hope he's a stud

I've never hunted bear, as they're too far away from here, and I can't really take off work to travel to a good bear hotspot. If I ever get around to hunting them, it'll be archery for me.
My dad did shoot one with a rifle in Canada back in 1969. I still remember the bear head hanging on the wall when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I think he gave it to a friend, as he no longer has it.
Killed three black bear so far, but have not been in the last 3-4 years.
First was a 125lb bear with an awesome white diamond on his chest, he's a half mount on my wall.
Next two were 150lb bears, one of them at 10 feet.
All have been with rifles.
Steve
My first and only was in 1988 in Ontario. Range was about 15 yards with a 30-06. Through the boiler room. Bear only went about 6 feet, moaned and died. Only about 150-175 pounds. Delicious though. Had a shoulder mount done by my friends 84 y/o grandmother. Turned out nice!
shameless bump
