good luck and post some pics
linky made hot
Those are beautiful! I bought a shadow box, some foam backing and felt and arranged them in a heart shape with some grasses behind it. I used black felt, so it's not very colorful. In retrospect, I should have used a different color felt.
We have some whole ducks in the freezer that my boyfriend is going to have mounted.
It came out ok, I'll post pics when I get my camera back, the boyfriend is boar hunting in SC with it.
Thanks!
I suppose mounting them to a pair of hair combs for your lady ga ga outfit is out of the question?
Whatever you do be sure to borax the snot out of them. My grouse tails and duck wings (I kept for duck ID classes) always seemed to get attacked by weevils or some such yuck bug. (Even months/years after being dried)
How about pinning them to a small yellow pine board with the wing tips down, say pointing to 4:30 and 7:30 on the clock. You could cover the end of the wings with a small block of would with the date of the hunt.
Cut them at the shoulder dig out as much meat as you can. Pack some borax in them, stretch them out and tape. Give them some time.
I have a mount of 3 buffleheads flying together-will have to post a pic. One of my favorite ducks!
Just picked up my bull sprig pintail from the taxidermist
Taxidermist also had this mount..probly the coolest woody mount ive ever seen!

very nice work-a pintial is another that I want, but have been unable to get a good one-the only one I have gotten in 12 years of waterfowl hunting was a young drake, didn't even have the white stripe up the side of his head, much less a sprig.
