Well this was my first time going out for dove. It was on the land of a really good family friend and it was a blast! (pun intended)
Got six all by my self!

Getting ready to clean um up.

Daisy got interested in what was going on.

After a wing she begged for more!!

Six nice plump breasts all cleaned and ready for their soak.

The remains!

Daisy is about the most worthless bird dog out there. loves to chomp down on them and loves to go get em, however she is so dumb that you need to lead her to the birds. After two times trying to train her we gave up. Now she is a 13 year old, fat, and happy lab. Quite content to eat the scrapes that we throw to her.

Cool. Next time save the hearts. Saute them in butter with mushrooms and place on a bed of rice. Serve as a side dish to your dove breasts. They snap when you chomp them and are fucking delicious.

One thing I always do is open up the crop to see what they have been eating, gives you an idea where they may be feeding so you might get more next time.

Only problem is this year I have no clue what these seeds actually are:

Oh yeah! I'll have to remember the mushrooms. I also saute them in butter with a little fresh garlic and a dash of Tony Chachere's.

The small seeds could be johnson grass seed. The big ones on the left look like soybean.

Not hunting in the Arizona desert. Jojoba seeds, maybe?

I love putting a little pat of butter on each side of the breast, wrap them in bacon, pin with a toothpick. I smoke them like that with pecan wood. OMFG!!! If you have a buch of them you can carefully use a very sharp fillet knife and fillet away the breast loosing zero meat, marinade them in a little teyaki sauce then skewer them between some mushrooms and grill them HOT AND FAST until just done.
