First chucks of the year - graphic

the temp spiked to 60 today and I saw a few chucks that thought it was early spring or something. shot 8, but only got a picture of the 4 I could get to.

Was a fun little hunt. Shooting 55gr Vmax....which makes it impossible to get pretty little pictures

I've seen a chuck or two out, but there aren't too many around here. I'm waiting for the ground squirrels

I've been coming here for 12 years, but I just moved up here in August. I don't know that I've seen an Idaho ground squirrel. I love shooting chucks though.


walked around for a couple hours before it got cold and windy. Got 5 with the HMR.

I usually don't shoot the 17 in the wind, but it was unexpectedly blowing 12-15+ when I got out there. I took these chucks out to 145 yards and i was really happy with how the round performed. I had only shot CA ground squirrels and rabbits with it before today. It knocked the piss out of some pretty big chucks and the CZ is a hell of a lot easier to carry than the AR.
