I have the chance to hunt a lion. A rancher is having an issue with one taking his deer. I've seen the trail cam pictures of it killing a buck. I've been tasked with finding the best ways to hunt it. I'm not sure dogs will work. We have some foxpro game calls. How is the best way to hunt a lion without dogs? What calls to use? Bait?
sound like prey.
Use extra stealth when approaching the stand location. Be prepared to sit still and be quiet for an hour. Other predators (coyote, bobcat, fox) may approach, let them come in and leave on their own accord. Using a decoy would be a good idea (just a normal predatpr decoy, nothing huge). Start with some normal jackrabbit sounds, pup distress, coyote distress, or fawn distress.
Also understand that a lion has a big range and targeting one lion means doing some scouting, selecting a particular stand location, or several stand locations, and then calling them for an hour at a time on different days. The lion may show up on the first stand in the first 10 minutes, but don't count on it.
Male or female feeding kittens? I've hunted lions and would not want to call one solo. They make their living killing things wiser that we.

I've heard of hunters having success with lion vocalizations - some guys have a lot of success with it, especially the female sounds. I have not had any success with lion vocalizations, however.
Is there a reason you can't/don't want to trap/snare it? I think a legs snare would be a better way to go. Having said that I think if you are in the right area you could call it in just like any predator. They are made to hunt and respond to prey sounds/smells/movements.
If it were me I would try to find someone with dogs to run it with. IMO much easier that way and fun
