 Fur down! Drought has ended!

It has been a long while since I have had any kind of consistent success calling yotes. I hooked up with rizzo last year and went out and did a few sets.

Well, it’s finally cooling off again so I took my newly honed ‘rizzo skills’ and rizzo recommended equipment out a few days last week.

Stand 1:

Set up the caller and decoy went back and sat in my well shaded spot and not 20 seconds after I turned on the call a freaking coyote was on the decoy – I didn’t have time to react – he caught me totally off guard! Buck fever took over and I missed the 40 yard shot and the 2 follow-up shots. I didn’t care, calling that yote was awesome and gave me some much needed confidence.

Stand 2:

10 minutes into the call – yote coming in hard and fast – pegged on the decoy. He didn’t stop. Shot him right at the decoy as he slowed slightly at about 40 yards. He dropped like a sock of full of quarters. I stayed on the call and kept still – heart pounding out of my chest – 12 minutes into the call – yote number 2 is coming in full boar – I hadn’t settled down from the first yote. I missed number 2 with three shots. Hey, it’s a new rifle with a brand new SD3G flat bow trigger that I’m still getting used to. And I am really getting used to calling in yotes! Thanks rizzo – you still owe me a bobcat!

LOL - I know that feeling well.

Nice hunting and shooting, wish the drought was over down here though...

Oh my - here comes the excuses! Sounds like you need to come to my carbine course on Saturday!

Just name the day, my friend. Glad to see that you're bringing them in and knockin 'em down! Save a skull and I'll clean it up for you.

Way to go. Been caught off guard like that before. What's worse is when two or three roll onto the scene and you have to pick which one to shoot.

What kind of call/decoy is that?

Call is a Foxpro and decoy is a Mojo Critter.
