Finally shot a coyote
I've been cursed for 15 years. They have seen me move, they have come unglued when they heard me cock my muzzleloader, and this past spring I had a cheap scope mount fail on an AR and I missed three shots!
But Saturday it all came together. Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture.

Good job.
That's one more then I've gotten. Though I've only gone out twice
Good job though!
I've never killed one with my bow even though I've been trying for over 2 decades.
I've missed about 4 or 5 times. They just don't sit still long and see movement so well.
Hell I've kill a bobcat and not a coyote with a bow.
BTW, That is a great looking yote.
Well done! Always like seeing another notch in the varmint war body count. Now you have to come up with a clever catch-phrase for when you get another one.
My Favorite - "Tell your friends about me..."
I wouldn't have figured there would be a lot of dogs in Georgia, learn something new everyday!

Wouldn't that only work if one gets away

Good call, but I try not to let them. That's why I normally use a .308. Tends to stop them from getting away if I'm lucky enough to spot one

Thanks guys!

I lost a coyote I shot with my bow, it was the last time I hunted with my bow in the rain. It ran into the swamp and the blood trail was just about washed away by the time I got out of the tree.
This one was pretty rough looking, I just took the picture at a good angle. I had a dog that would get a heat rash and lose hair during the summer, this coyote looked just about the same.
I plan to hit them hard whenever I see them in deer season, but I'll wait until they get their winter coat to hunt them specifically.
Our coyote population has exploded in the last 15 years. I saw several during turkey season, so I decided to try my luck again this summer.
Excellent! Glad to hear it came together for you. How was your stand setup, or did you catch this one out in the open somewhere?

I was downwind of some very open planted pines, in a small strip of hardwoods. Downwind of my setup was an open field. I set out a rabbit hide on a stick as distraction, and set up my caller next to it about 40 yards away, up and cross wind.
I hit two locator howls, then I was going to wait a few minutes and hit the fawn bawl. This one came in within a minute of the howls, and was approaching the "decoy" a bit warily. His body language said "I'm interested, but I'm afraid something is a bit hinky here".
He paused in an opening at 60 yards out just long enough to shoot. He was so focused on the rabbit hide that I probably could have jumped up and waved at him and he would not have looked my way.
I'm saving the skull, my taxidermist has it now. I'm hoping my next one will have a better coat so I can case skin him and have it tanned to go with my bobcat hides.
GOOD SHOOT!
I guess the curse is over! Hopefully the rest will come easy. keep the wind in your face!
Outstanding!!!!
