Should ARFCOM have a separate forum for varmint hunting
I think it should
why not?
i see that you guys have pretty much taken over the small game forum. Just wondering though, would crows count in the varmint forum or would crow discussion take place in bird hunting?
Im in with a yes

crows would be in varmint class.
crows would be in varmint class.
SWEET! then I am definately in on having a Varmint Forum!
Are we lumping varmints with predators?
^ I consider predators to be varmints, so I would say yes.
Having shot more rounds at Prairie Dogs in South Dakota in the last 25 years than I have shot anywhere else, I would have to say ABSOLUTELY YES.
I starting using my AR on Prairie Dogs over 15 years ago and now use several different AR and two different calibers and "several" different loads. The AR's are more fun than the bolt guns.
I have answered a number of questions on different forums that probably would have been better served on a "varmint" forum.

more probably seperating from rabbit, squirrel, ect.
yes. theres a diff. from calling cat's,yotes from huntng rockchuck's groundhogs, PD's and callin crows
I'd not consider hunting squirrel and cottontails with a 22-250!
I have been thinking of suggesting this exact thing...
I am in with a yes.
MAHA
Definately a yes.
I would rather just get rid of the liberal,anti-hunters who hang out in G.D......
Although I think this is a good idea, I don't know that there would be traffic enough to warrant a varmint hunting forum.
I am afraid that it would steal 2/3 of the traffic from here and neither forum would be very active.

Me too, but it is better to have them in GD than in the hunting forums.....where I can promise that crap won't be tolerated.

I'd say that almost everyone who owns an AR-15 and is a hunter uses it for varmints/predators. One only needs to look at the predator hunting websites to see that. My opinion is that this varmint hunting is probably more prevalent with AR-15 owners than deer hunting –– therefore if we have a dedicated deer forum, we need a dedicated varmint/predator forum. We could probably increase traffic in the Arfcom Outdoor Community dramatically if we could attract members from the other predator hunting websites.

Haha - trust me, there can be only one.
That is kinda what I was thinking, though. There's a reason I stay away from most predator hunting forums - I don't think I want that element brought to ARFCOM.

I wouldn't know, as I don't frequent any of them.

Define varmint, and also define predator.

Varmint –– A troublesome wild animal.
Predator –– An animal that naturally preys on others.
Both terms are frequently used interchangeably. Predator Hunting would probably be a better choice for a forum name, in my opinion.

Why is this?

I agree Rizzo. The biggest predator hunting site out there has the lowest collective IQ of any site that I frequent.
Also how bout throwing up a hunting related DIY in the hunting forums ?

Yeah, G.D is a weird place; Posting pics of dead varmints is bad, but everyone loves to play dress-up with their cats and post pics of it...
Isn't this supposed to be a gun board?
No, we need a seperate PREDATOR forum. I think varmints fit in with small game and trapping. Varmints is crows, possums, coons, gophers, woodchucks adn groundhogs, squirrels, ground squirrels, etc.

Crows are varmints according to my Lakota friends. So are Ojibwe.
I think that trapping and predator hunting go hand in hand in that both are going after pelts, small game is more for a food source
I recently approved and caused to be created another forum––not my first, BTW–– but I have to say that all of the fora I have been instrumental in crreating have had more that 72 votes (at this time), both pro and con.
No offense but the response so far is not exactly encouraging. Maybe if the focus of the proposed forum was better put. Perhaps if that was the case, some other pre-existing fora could be re-adjusted as to their focus.
I'm not agin ya, but so far, the response is pretty weak. Naturally, I discount BS, obviouus BTT-type replies.
This site is all about being user-friendly, and catering to various groups of users, but there has to be a certain day-in, day-out core (number) of users before it becomes beneficial to the Site, as a whole, to cut loose another narrowly focused forum.

The hunting forums are all pretty slow during the summer months.
I voted yes and I think rizzo should be one of the mods.
