Any advice for a beginner coyote hunter?

I've been hunting for about 8 years now, two weeks ago I decided to give coyote hunting a try with no success in seeing one after 4 trips. I call using a Johnny Stewart attractor electronic call in conjunction with a primos double cottontail mouth call. I do 30min-45 min stands. I have been out both evenings and nights.

My area consists of thick woods, open fields, and crp fields. I like to set up facing the woods or other thick areas that I feel may hold coyotes. I hunt this very same area very hard during archery deer season and would hear coyotes singing at sunset almost every time I was out (I would see one every once in a while).

I have not heard them ever since I started hunting them (not sure if the weather or coyote rut has anything to do with this). I shoot a 12ga patterned to 50 yards with #4 buck which would be my max distance. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

they are SMART
you won't fool them twice
call for 20mins, and move on.
know your zero ( I use an AR with a 1-4x burris)
use good cammo
mind the wind

It is that time of year where vocalizing is the best way to call.. Locator howls and female invitation vocals and a good challenge bark/howl are what works best for us out in the desert now.. food calls are best from October to January.. its getting to be breading season and to tell you the truth it is not a fun time for beginners..

The best advice I can give is that it isn't as easy as all the videos and DVDs make it look. Keep going and eventully you'll get some. Try to learn something every trip.
