Please only take a head or spine shot. A certain head or spine shot. Otherwise, you're just wounding the animal, to die a couple of days later. That's pretty cruel. That's why the Army uses .223 on humans, which some states prohibit on deer, for good reason.

Although this ammo isn't meant for deer(fairly sure the OP was being facetious) .223 can be very effective on deer and it has killed many a person.
I got nothing against using the .223 for deer.
But it requires the right bullet and that ain't it.

This.
I'm now working up 223 loads with 65gr Sierra Game King and 62gr Barnes TSX bullets.
If I ever DO get them perfected, I won't take a shot unless I am near certain it will be a vital hit.

You might want to check your facts about that one.
I'd rather have 50-60 grain bullets in the 3000-3300fps range.
35 grains is too damned light and I don't want to torch the throat of my barrel. Also don't want the quickly degrading ballistics or wind drift if I'm shooting at 300+ yards.
Super light and super fast is fine for inside 300 yards in my experience, go for the laser beam and don't worry about trajectory if it is all point blank for a Ca. ground squirrel sized target.
45 grn HPs out of 22-250 have given me more consistent one shot stops on deer and hogs that any other round, the 35 grainer just seems to small to me
Deer =/= Varmint

Not here. Be nice to have that many running around.
All depends on the deer. Small does sure..but many larger dear it would be not a preferred round.

then youre an idiot.

Please don't that is a terrible idea.
Get a bullet suited for deer hunting if you are going to use the .223 for deer.
Dupe....there is a tacked thread at the top for discussions about .223/5.56 on deer.
