Is there any reason why I should spend extra $100 for the BDL series rifle?
Is the hinged floor plate really worth the extra money?
Does it offer real convience?

I have both (.30-06 ADL and .22-250 BDL) and I think the BDL is way more convenient, but I was loading and unloading a lot last year. I've been toying with the idea of converting my ADL to a BDL, but haven't done it yet. I would say having the ADL is an annoyance, but only you can decide if it's worth $100. Personally, I would spend the money, but that's just me.

I have both and dont really care its nice but not necessary. My ADL 7mag is one of the most accurate rifles I have ever had and has shot some no BS less than .25 groups with 175g elk loads.

I haven't looked at them in a while but last time I looked the BDL offered better (pretty wood), the floorplate and and it looked like the metal was marginally more polished before blueing. The only functional aspect of all that was the floorplate. Its easer to unload.

I apologize for getting of topic but if that last $100 matters you might want to look really hard at the savage 10/110. In all honesty I've found recent savages to have better triggers, better barrels and they typically shoot more accurately. And they are less expensive. Recent remington products are not up to the standard of Remington of twenty years go (sadly).

some guys i know swear the adl is more accurate than the bdl dunno myself ive never owned a bdl or adl that i couldnt get it to shoot sub moa with handloads. i can live without the floor plate but it is nice benefit at the end of a hard day of hunting for unloading and putting it away for the drive home

The hinged floor plate can be a good thing, or PIA!!!!

makes unloading easy.

However, I used to catch my gloves on it when hunting, and hit the release and rounds everywhere.
Happened several times.

So my hunting 700 does not have the hinged floor plate.

I don't think it makes a damn bit of difference.

Makes little difference except for resale.

If they still make the BDL with a detachable box magazine I would buy that at any price. It is very, very convenient when hunting to simply drop the mag out to unload.

Look at the aftermarket bottom metal applications, there is a thread where the bottom metal is $90-120, mags are seperate.

I have an adl model. For hunting, I wish I had the bdl. If you make it a tactical rifle, the adl is fine. Unloading 1 round at a time when getting back to hunting camp is a PITA though.

I had a BDL DM in 30-06 and a mountain rifle DM in 30-06 liked them but both got traded off. Damn good rifles

Have you thought about the Savage 11 FCNS? Detatchable magazines are much more convenient than hinged floorplates as far as I'm concerned, plus you get the accutrigger.

Get what you want - in the long run a $100 bucks in nothing in a gun. Better to be happy with what you have instead of wishing you spent the extra money on the BDL.

My opinion is basically the same as this except my calibers are different from the one Iowaredneck uses. I have a 30/06 ADL and a .280 remington CS (which is the camo synthetic version of the BDL). Being able to dump the rounds quickly and easily from my .280 is nice but it's not a necessity.

At the local Academy Sports here there's about a $300.00 difference. Also the ADL is not even listed on the Remington site. I think it's only made for big box stores like Academy, Walmart, etc.

It is interesting seeing some of the comments here. I would have never guess the ADL was thought of that well against the BDL grade.

If you're going to leave it as is, or maybe just swap stocks, I'd go ahead & get the BDL.

But if you're going to put it in a different stock & set it up with detachable magazines in the future, I would just get an ADL.

YMMV........
