TJ4a is coming along (with questions of course)

So I have a question, then onto a little PRC-4a porn.

Today I rescued a power supply from a long cold dark trip in the back of a trash truck to the dump. I think it use to play its part by keeping a printer powered up. Here is why I got a couple funny looks from the people I work with. I for some reason happed to look at the specs on the sticker and it said 12v 5a (why a printer needs 5a's I don't know) well the part that got my squirrel cage to spinning is I remembered that my TJ4a only requires 3-4a at 10v-12.5v. Could I do what you think I'm thinking? As in cut the end off and wire it to a plug for my radio to be able to use house power?

Any ways enough about that. I came across a can of satin green paint at Lowes (usually I'm a Home Depot guy but the xyl was next door at Ross') It was just a little lighter then OD green. If you have been around .mil radios or "green gear" you know they are not really OD green. I had planed on sending it to Big Daddy's guy in FL but figured at $20 for all the supplies I would give it a shot. So I primed, sanded, primed, sanded, base coat (this is where the pics were taken), sanded, now im on my top coat given that one spot where the can farted evens out. I also scuffed up the handles and gave them a touch of flat black. Im just now getting to the face plate because 1 its what everyone will look at and 2 it needs a little body work. So here they are.

If it says 5 amps I would give it a shot, looks like it meets the specs. The only problem you may have is some noise on the HF bands, some of the smaller power supplies are very noisy, but you will not know until you hook it up. For free it is worth a try!

ETA: Green radio's

I came home yesterday to find that tge cable guy knocked it off the stand onto the concrete. So I dug the stuck on things out of the paint and sanded and paited another coat. I'm hoping tonight to fit it together.

Well for now I'm done painting. Ill do a couple stencils on the side but after that ill just need to add the faceplate decals.

Edsila's right. It DOES look good.

How well does the set work, though?

Better then that 320

Just kidding. Its been apart since I've had my upgrade so I haven't tested it out much. If the tx is as good as the rx ill be happy. The menus are really simple, there are really no embeded menus just the main buttons.

I tied all the components together the other night to test that power supply. It worked now ill compare it to some batteries.
