Find another HTX-100 (or have yours fixed) or a Uniden HR2510. The HTX-100 is, IMO, the best 10m only rig with the HR2510 running a close second.

What is going on with it, I have bought 2 cheap and repaired them. I then sold them for a small profit and got a couple of new tech's on HF for very cheap.

This.

I bought a broken one from ebay years ago, fixed it, and resold it on ebay. It had a bad capacitor I think. Might have been a voltage regulator as well but either way that could be easy.

The pots where dirty and I blew the final. I had a friend fix it for me. In the interim though I had a cool thing happen, I scored big on an Alinco dx-s8r. So I am back in business on 10-meter and now I will have a daily reason staring me in the face to finally upgrade to general. I just hooked the s8r up to my 10 meter center fed wire for now, next week when I have some time I will put up a longer wire for some lower bands. So I am gonna put the HTX on ebay tonight to help cove the cost of the new rig. Thanx for all your advise guys, ed

Just make sure you watch the bracket screws. IIRC, it came with it's own shorter screws, as there were parts on the other side of the hole that got F'ed if you used longer screws. I haven't had an 2510 since the mid 90s.

Still have an RCI 2950 in the junk pile though...

Is it a 10 or a 100?

I think I had bought and fixed a 100. I did have a 10 or a clone at one point as well though I believe.

Anyway still could be something easy.

They have a problem with the Mic elements going out. Both of the ones I bought lost the dynamic element. One op told me the finals were gone, the other was a CW op that sold it to me for 30 bucks, he said he worked DXCC on the last solar cycle on 10 meters with that radio, but he tried one SSB contact and got nothing. He was cleaning the shack since he picked up an IC-7600 that was 1 month old for 1500 bucks!

^^ That.

I have had a 2600 since it was new. It had been stuffed in a box quite a while and a couple year ago I got it out to play with it and dang if there wasn't any power out. A cheap dynamic tape recorder mic from a thrift store had an element which fit perfectly, fixed it!

The thing was an absolute pig from those high sunspot years in my dirty old truck but after fixing the mic I took the face/buttons/knobs apart and cleaned everything, now it works and looks great. It i nice to have in the shack scanning while I'm doing other things, easier to catch those openings!
