Lots of stuff out there and I don't know much about them.

I have a Gerber and a few of the old wooden handled Rapala hand made ones...they all work well.

I use an electric to filet (currently have a mister twister) and have a Rapala superflex (4 inch) for doing smaller pan fish and for removing bones, triming etc.

I really, really like the new ones from Buck Knives that are sold at Cabelas. Relatively inexpensive, very comfortable, and just the right amount of blade flex in my opinion. I ended up buying both sizes.

Rapala makes one of the best fillet knives out there.
I got a G-96 brand fillet knive back in the late 70's that I still use, thats the only one that compares to rapalas that I have used.

I like the Rapala and keep one in the tackle box. My SOG field pup is also good for all around skinning and works pretty good on fish too.

All of the big names - Rapalla, Gerber, Cold Steel. are good. Its the sharpener that makes the difference. A Firestone or good set of ceramic sticks can make an OK knife a skinning machine.

I have a rubber handled fiskers that is my favorite.

Knowing fiskers relationship with gerber. It may be a gerber made tool.

What kind of fish are you filleting?

I use a different knife for smaller snapper than I do for large grouper.

The knife I use most is a
Forschner Fibrox 8" Breaking Knife
Model: 40537

Two other knives I use frequently
are
Forschner 6" Flexible Boning knife
Model: 40517

and
Rapala 7-1/2" Classic Fillet Knife
Model: BPFNF7SH1

I've used the bottom knife a lot. I'm mainly using it on white and yellow perch, pickeral and cusk/ling.
