Hey...a quick Q if ya' don't mind....

Did the publisher of Lights Out give you any grief or problems over the fact that you had it posted online before the book was printed? If so, did that affect any "deal" you got?

Just curious.

Hahhahahahhaha, he's his own publisher! I sure hope he didn't give himself grief.

eta: Keep your eye's open seems LO is not the only book that hack is working on.

As Cyclic said, we formed our own publishing company to get LO out. We're also working on some other books, not all of them mine.

I do, however, give myself grief all the time.

Seriously, the biggest problem publishers seemed to have with the story was the length. If you are trying to break into the book game, I would suggest that you keep your manuscripts between 80 and 120 thousand words. Publishers seem to be more willing to take a chance on a book in that range.

We actually have some interest from a couple of major publishers about buying the rights to LO. The fact that it was on the Net for so long doesn't seem to bother them at all. It's a whole new ballgame in publishing because of the Interweb, and the smart ones know it. The guys that try to hold on to the old ways will eventually have to change or close up shop, IMHO.

Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any other questions.

BTW...when you say you formed your own publishing company, are we talking 100% your own, or did you use a service like Lulu or CreateSpace?

We have formed Halffast Publishing, LLC. It is 100% ours. We are doing everything but the printing. We farm that out to one of several different printing companies.
