Anyone have a copy they want to get rid of? I have started reading it on the computer via the pdf file but reading a book on the computer sucks. I looked at amazon but I am not about to pay that much money for a book. Was hoping maybe someone had an old beat up copy or and extra copy laying around that they wanted to ditch....and yes I am willing ot buy it just not at amazon or ebay prices.

That book opened my eyes to the world around me.

Sorry can't part with mine.

Do they actually have any copies for that price?
The book is out of print. Why anyone would sell their copy for 15% of market price is beyond me.
Glad I bought mine 8 years ago brand new for $40. Almost done reading it again.

Not available, I found one extra copy new in the wrap hardback fifth edition locally. I can do $50 shipped CONUS, yankeefan has first dibbs.

ETA: collectable book now, finding used from about $100 to the unthinkable morrons listing them for $1000
sucks that its no longer in print, and its an even bigger crime for books-a-million to even take the order. I have to cancell my order with them today since I found it locally in a back room of a store.

Bought my copy for $40 I think. I loaned it to a friend and he wanted to loan to to somebody else so he did without my permission. I was upset when he told me. I was confused because he was holding a copy of the book when he told me this. Turns out he bought me one of the autographed ones. He said he wanted his own copy of the book and that was the only one he could find so he bought it for me so he could keep my old copy and loan it out.

I'm just curious. What kind of store did you find it in? Book store, second hand shop, goodwill, etc ?

I've got a signed copy given to me by a friend when the book first came out that I have tucked away. Would like to have another copy for future rereads. I've heard they're trying to come out with a paperback version.

Definitely an eye-opener....

Army surplus store. Lots of clothing, patches, dog tags, ammo cans, survival type crap, and some books. Basically every army surplus store I've ever been in, of course I've lived near one army base or another for most of my life.

Only thing missing was child sex and bestiality.

UC is my favorite book of all time and until you mentioned it I didn't remember anything about the sex parts in the book. I guess that means it's time to re-read it.

The trash? shame..

I bought my copy in 1999/2000/2001(cant recall exactly) orderded it through Barnes and Noble. When I went to pick it up from the local store, the young lady handed me the book and said.. "What is this Patriot Porn?" I believe this was some kind of odd come on that probably didnt come out quite like she thought it would. I admit the cover was a bit embarrasing.

You must lead a sheltered life, if you think that was ALL that was missing.

There are bad people in the world. Many of us choose to acknowledge that they exist and prepare to win if they force an encounter.
This book does not glorify it. It glorifies self-reliance.

Regarding lesbos and threesomes, I try not to be so judgmental about other people's sex life myself. The fact that people we elect to office in DC are of weak moral character and easily enticed by sex is a matter of public record. It is a powerful part of the story.
The sexual themes portrayed in the book are well within mainstream standards for Hollywood blockbusters today.
Not saying you have to like it. Just commenting on the rift.

I notice you didn't mention Uncle Max's regular indiscretions with women besides his wife.
Is a married man cheating less offensive to you than a single man sharing his bed with 2 women, or two single adult women (one of whom was kept as a sex slave by men and no longer enjoys sex with them) having consensual sex?

The fact that these people's characters were expertly developed by the author and that their experiences made it all the more believable that they would be willing to do some of the things they did at the end doesn't seem to enter into your assessment of the value of this part of the story.
I hazard to guess that not many apron wearing middle class housewives answered the revolutionary call issued by former ATF agent Wilson Blair.

You may also want to try the book tables at local gun shows. I have seen UC at just about every gun show in South East Virginia. I am going to one tomorrow and will check.

I got my copy of this book back in '05 from a gun store in Houston. I had no idea that it was so hard to find now. Next time I go by that store I will see if there are any more copies and post back here if there are.

Yep, not legal. But I will also say this, if it's out of print, and the rights holder/author won't do more or even answer me back, I would do it for a personal copy.

I lucked out and found some reasonable priced copies, but I was definitely on my way to printing my own. I even sent the author several emails, which he never replied to. What kills me is the author (his own publisher I gather) could put it on amazon under print on demand and still be selling copies.

I didn't have any problem with him responding. Multiple times. What e-mail address did you use?

I don't remember, it was from his web page. Basically I was asking permission to have a single copy printed up on my own dime as none were available. I'm still tempted to make a couple locally for people who want to borrow/read, so I don't have to give out my good copy. And YES I strongly prefer printed copies to electronic formats.

The cover is a pic from a Hustler magazine spread from away back in the '80's, I think. I remember seeing it when I was pretty young and still thought buying Hustler was a good idea. My first thought on seeing it on the book was, "I wonder if he's paying royalties?"

I did enjoy the book, and the various sex scenes did actually push the story, as opposed to being gratuitous.

I can say with certainty that, back in that era, the publishers were asking for graphic sex in adventure novels. Self-published or not, that may have had something to do with it.
