Using Firefox I had no problem getting them to open.

BTW "Light's Out" is one of the best PAW fiction stories out there!

He just posted this today in this thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=10&f=20&t=633117
I downloaded it a few years ago and have read it a few times. I'll probably buy the book if one comes out.

I have been thinking about this post for a couple of days. I really don't want to have to post this, because I'm not smart enough to figure out how to do it without sounding like a dick. No matter how I word it, someone is going to take it wrong. This is the best I can come up with and I hope it doesn't offend anyone. If it does, I am truly sorry.

There are thousands and thousands of hours of work in LO. It has been on the net for free since I began writing it in 2002. I now have a chance to make a few bucks off of it. I pulled it off the net because I no longer want to give it away. No one is authorized to post, email, or share the story with out my permission. That is what "copyrighted" means. Now, I am not so naive as to think this won't happen some. However, doing so is stealing from me. If you are fine with that, there is probably little I can do about it. All I can ask is that you respect my wishes. I hope, by early this summer, to have copies for sale that have many of the problems with the story fixed and even a few new chapters. Thanks.

David

So did this ever make it to print?

Is this the same book that's supposed to be set in the mountains of North Carolina?

I'm not talking about "one second after", I've already read that one.

I'm trying to find it at the library & can't remember the title or what it was about other than it's a SHTF novel.

No it's set in Texas, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't made it to print yet.

I was told at B&N that it would be out in July.

ETA: I read the online and looking forward to the book, I am sure it will be better and online it was great.

I've made it about a 1/3 way through the online version.

If it is going to be released in July I'll wait and re-read when the hard copy comes out.

here's what halffast posted at survival monkey

-Update from Halffast 2/23/2010
Well, the day has come. I have made a deal with a Hollywood producer to shop Lights Out around to some studios. He thinks we have a great shot at getting one of them to take on the project. We are also working on a book deal.

That means that I need to ask you to remove LO from your site. There is no way that I can ever repay you for the support you have given the story. Of course you will get an acknowledgement in the book and I will send you a signed copy.

Thanks again for everything.

I just finished "one second after" thinking that since it was in print it must be better than "Lights Out" - WRONG - Lights Out is SOOOOO much better! I'd love to see it make it to the big screen!

I originally wrote the story based in Florida. I had to change it, though. Nobody believed that real men like Mark, Jim, and Gunny would live there.

I just finished One Second After.......... and kinda want my $15 back. All it is, is getting people ready to die unless your a big wig in the little pond of local government.......... and to be honest local government don't do a whole lot for the people in the country. Half the time I was reading it I was thinking I'd tell em to pound sand. They took everyone else's car BUT our hero gets to keep his. The Sgt Major trains the students but our hero leads them.

Basically there is no justice in this world if "that book" got all that praise and Light's Out or Lost and Found...... or hell even the Bug Out doesn't make it print.

The Road was full of rainbows and unicorns compared to One Second After.

If you like Lights Out you should check out Deep Winter by Tom Sherry. Pretty good so far. I've got it and the follow up in pdf.
