If you took a hunter ed class I would almost certainly bet there is a section on this in the booklet. Taking care of game so that it isn't ruined is a basic tenet of the hunter ed program. I teach it in NYS.

Try to hunt with an experienced hunter and lend a hand to another guy if the opportunity arises to dress game. Even holding the rear leg for the successful hunter is an assistance and gives you a very good view of the process.
Here there are requirements for youth to hunt with an experienced hunter for thier first season.
