Nice! That's a hunt I've always wanted to do. How long did it take to get drawn?

Those both look very nice. Ever since American Hunter had an article about transplanted game, i've wanted to get one. what did you have to do to go after them? BTW i'm in El Paso if that makes it any differance.

These were shot on White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. There are some tags available for off range hunts, but both of these animals were taken on the range. These are free ranging animals and no high fences are involved. These are "once in a lifetime" tags and are obtained thru the New Mexico Fish and Game draw system. Tough tag to get your hands on.

The application deadline for oryx has past for this year, but the application process is detailed HERE. Go to the website and click on the "Hunting" tab. From there you will be able to download the latest Big Game Hunting Proclamation. That document will give you the details on how to apply for an oryx, or other big game animal hunt in New Mexico.

If you draw a tag, you will be contacted via e-mail with details on the different hunting regulations in affect on WSMR. They will walk you through the process of what you need to do to abide by the rules and to increase your chances for a succesful hunt.

The deadline to apply for most other big game animals in New Mexico is March 28 at 5:00 p.m. So there is still time to get your application completed. If you, or anyone else, has any questions about the hunt application process in New Mexico, hit me up via IM and I will be happy to walk you thru the process. I am not a guide or outfitter, just a guy who spends WAY too much time in the outdoors. At least that's what my wife tells me.

thanks for your offer, i grew up in el paso, spent a lot of time in ruidoso/cloudcroft and vacationed a bit further north (chama). we have a summer home in ruidoso and consider it a second home. hopefully I can retire some day and call new mexico my perminant home. i love that part of the world.

Both pictures of good mature animals. I have seen a few guys not do their homework and end up with some sub 30" animals. The once in a lifetime is a great hunt. Still have not gotten it but will put in again.

Congrats on your trophies. Deadline for Oryx is February
