Picked up a two man crosscut saw today, good condition for $45. Did i do OK or was I hurt. Thinking this will be a good option if I don't want the noise or gas consumption of my Husqvarna.

How are the teeth? Steel? Length?

This Curtis costs $229 at Forestry Suppliers.

is it sharp? there is an art to it.

takes practices to use each man just pulls, no pushing, or you can kink it.

I have a two man, but want to find a one man.

The hard part is sharpening it. It is a dying art. I prefer the one man saws but do have a couple of the 2 man. There is a reason those old time loggers were in incredible from the misery whip.

Steel appears to be in good shape. Handles are solid and tight. Have talked to a gentleman who has a saw sharpening service near my home , he says he has sharpened them in the past. To be honest this is 40% prep item and 60% decorative, I just wanted it. Have been looking for a 1 man but they are tough to find in good condition.

If you intend to use it you will need a saw set.

I was at a yard sale a few years ago, there was 2 college girls looking at a 2 man cross cut saw, I over heard 1 girl tell the other " lets buy it, it would be so romantic to cut our own wood". I thought to my self, yep, it would be romantic for about 30 seconds, then it is all work.

My last gallon of gasoline will go into my chainsaw.

my grandad ran lumber mills here back in the 30s-40s. i inherited several of them. grew up using them with my dad getting firewood in the winter. a good 2 man team can take a tree as fast or faster than a chainsaw team.

Thanks for the input. Older gentleman in my area is a saw sharpener. He hqas told me he can sharpen it. $15 if he does $25 If I help

Have seen a few of the one man saws on ebay, but want to be able to hold it my hands and look it over before I lay the money down. I will find one sooner or later. And I understand they are a workout. Main saw is named Husqvarna.

I have used them before and remember there was no need for a fitness center back then. These are one of the reasons. It does talk practice to get the timing down but they do work.

Single is the way to go. Two man is good in theory, but I rarely seem to have 2 people.
