Wood stove in fireplace? Take off legs and sit on bricks?

I am thinking of putting a box stove like this one in the fireplace. Can this be done? Can the flue be run up the chimney?
Dont really expect to heat the whole house, but at least the main living area and a backup cooking stove. Would be kind of neat to brew some coffee in my old peculator coffee pot I have.
If this is will work, my next problem is the height of the stove vs the height of the fireplace opening.

My fireplace opening is only about 24 inches high, and this stove is about 26in or so high with the legs. Im thinking about taking the legs off and sitting it on bricks.

I have a Quadurafire 5100I.

It heats very well but will not be as cheap as the one you posted.

The first two pics had me thinking FAIL, but yeah, you knocked it out of the park.

NICE install.

Thanks. I was trying to point out that if the insert space is limited (as mine was), hell, make a bigger hole and install something that'll work.

While it's been a mild winter here in AR, it's been down in the 20's a couple times and normally in the 30's at night, we're all electric and our central heat has only come on 3 times since Thanksgiving.

The complete install/stove etc will pay for itself 100% in 3 years or less. I love me some wood heat and the ability to cook on top if I want/need.
